How this is calculated
Monday through Friday, this counts down to midnight Saturday in your device's local time zone. Once Saturday or Sunday arrives, it automatically flips to counting down to midnight Monday instead, so the ticker always tells you the thing you actually want to know: how much longer until the weekend, or how much of it is left.

Does the weekend start Friday night or Saturday morning?
This tool counts the weekend as starting at midnight on Saturday, the standard convention most calendars and calculators use. Plenty of people feel the weekend starts the moment Friday's workday ends — if that's you, just read the countdown as "time left in the work week" instead.
What happens if it's already Saturday or Sunday?
